Eat & Drink

Where to eat and drink around the Huon Valley.

Eat & drink

These are the people we send our guests to.

The Huon Valley grows cool-climate wine, cider from apples down the road, and food worth planning a whole day around, from cellar doors perched above the river to a farmhouse table that draws people from across the state.

This is our own list, built from years of sending guests out the door and hearing what they loved when they came back. Consider it a shortcut to the valley’s best days out.

Lost Captain

Great for a pre-stay cocktail and a bite to eat from their menu, inspired by local ingredients.

Staying in

Or don’t go anywhere at all.

Every cabin has a kitchenette, a cooktop and a dishwasher, and plenty of guests do their eating and drinking on the deck instead. A few places to stock up on the way in.

Pasta and sauces. Bottega Crippa makes authentic Italian pasta and sauces from scratch, which is about as little work as dinner in the cabin can be.

Pizza. Great Southern Pizza, Tower Pizza and Pep Pizza. All three are takeaway only, with no delivery, so it is a drive down and back.

Groceries. Woolworths and Salamanca Fresh, both on Main Street in Huonville.

A deep black stone bath filled and still at dusk, a copper tap above it, and gum trees against a pink Huon Valley sky through the full-height windows

Somewhere to come back to at the end of it.

$569 a night, booked direct. The best price you’ll find anywhere.
